Confessions of a London PA

We caught up with one of our clients recently and here’s what she had to share about her role as an Executive Assistant…

Q Tell me about your role as an Executive Assistant?
A I work as the right-hand woman to the Director of an Investment House. My day to day activities consist of anything from managing the accounts to organising a busy day of meetings. I am very much involved with the overall management of the company and have developed experience in Portfolio Management and Proposals.

Q How did you become a PA – was this a career path you chose?
A Yes, it was a conscious decision to take this career path. I love being organised and that this role encompasses that in every way!

Q What do you find most rewarding about your job?
A When the person/people you support say that they wouldn't be able to function without you. It makes it all worthwhile when things go to plan and you have managed to make that person have an easier day as a result of your efforts.

Q What’s the strangest request you've ever had as a PA?
A I was asked to source a very specific Hockey Stick which took me the best part of 1/2 a day to find. Plus I needed to have it delivered from the other side of the world within a very short time-frame. It all worked out well in the end.

Q List three misconceptions that people often have about you as a PA?
A 1) That I sit around painting my nails all day. 2) That I answer calls all day. 3) That I have no qualifications.

Q Name one thing about yourself that most people don’t know?
A I used to be a gymnast for South England.

We’d love to hear your confessions too…
